What is an “Existential Mysterian”?
An Existential Mysterian is someone who holds to the philosophical position claiming that the mysteries of human existence, the “Hard Problem” of human consciousness and the perennial “Big Questions” of human existence may be forever opaque to human understanding, thus unsolvable and may remain forever unknown (and unknowable) to us as individuals and collectively as a species.
An Existential Mysterian is part existentialist, part mysterian, part skeptic, part agnostic. An Existential Mysterian rejects easy believism, unwarranted certainty, and trite, just-so answers to complex questions. Embrace the mystery!
This blog will be a platform to mull over and discuss was it is to be an Existential Mysterian. The development of the concept of the Existential Mysterian is a work in progress, and may well remain such into the undefined future.
